What is Window Stay?

2024-08-09

Window Stay is to keep the window open at a certain angle. They support open windows and protect the fingers from being caught when closing windows. Application for the window stays is wide. They could be used for casement windows, awning windows and hopper windows. Window stay usually get in different materials, sizes and finishes. Materials usually will be stainless steel but could be divided into stainless steel 201 and stainless steel 304 and which one you choose is linked to the finish you will mostly get. If for stainless steel 201 material, we usually recommend satin finish because satin is an extra surface treatment for better rustproof and anti-corrosion characteristic. But if for stainless steel 304 material, mill finish, which means without any surface treatment, is commonly used for production. The length of the stays is measured between the pivot points with the stay closed, such as 8 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch, 14 inch, 16 inch, 18 inch, 20 inch, 22 inch and 24 inch.

Installation is really easy as a DIY project as below:

First, let the rivet out of half of window and mark the hole distance.

Second, drill holes in marked position and fix with screws.

Third, open the stay to maximize the angle and place it on the window frame. But please note that it should be fitted to the edge when placed.

Fourth, mark the hole distance on relative position then drill holes and fix with screws.

Finally, installation is finished.
